Book: The Hunger Games

The Hunger games is the first book of a trilogy and as I expect many of you will know has been made into a film.
It's set in the world of Panem, a land with 12 districts ruthlessly held in check by the Capitol, after a failed revolution. The people are starving and to further punish them each year the 12 districts of Panem must offer up two tributes,one male, one female, between the ages of 12 and 18 to take part in the Hunger Games!
The Hunger Games is a forced Televised fight to the death, There can be only one winner...
District twelve, everyone attends the reapings, where the tributes names are drawn, and Katniss Everdeen watches in horror as her little sister Prim is chosen, she's only twelve, what chance does she have? So Katniss does something no one has done for years, she volunteers.
She's a good hunter, and has kept her family in food for years, but that doesn't mean she has a chance.
Now her and fellow tribute Peeta have been whisked away to the Capitol, and soon the Games will begin.
In the pre-game interviews however, in a bid to win support that could be life saving Peeta announces he loves Katniss, could this be the key to success or a death sentence,
Now they must save each other as well as themselves if they want any chance to win the most deadly game of all,
On top of the usual challenges of food and avoiding other kids, districts 1 and 2 have specially trained volunteers in the game, who almost always win,
The odds are against them, can the survive against their opponents? and even more so, the games themselves?
and when the games are over, what will the Capitol do about the growing unrest in the districts?
read this great book to find out,
I feel my review doesn't fully justify how engaging this book is, I must warn you that it's very very slow to begin with and has a very detailed intro to their lives and the world of Panem, a lot like the film, I advise you stick with it thought as it gets better and better, the whole concept is great and the way it's portrayed makes you keep reading non-stop. I thought it was a very good idea, and a great book, the only criticism is the intro, but i can understand why it's so long as it's introducing the trilogy pretty much so i guess you need the background covered well,
A good read and a good film,

BOOK REVIEW: Maximum Security(Robert Muchamore) CHERUB 3

James Adams returns for the third book of the CHERUB series.
In this book James must do the opposite of what most CHERUB missions do, He has to bust a criminal out of Arizona Max.
Curtis Oxford is the son of a renowned gun smuggler, locked up in Americas high security prison.
His Mother, Jane Oxford, has just stolen a truck of high-tech missiles from the American government, destined to be sent to Britain.
Britain want these missiles back, and so James and an agent called Dave moss find themselves inside Arizona max.
In the young offenders cell, nicknamed Gladiator schools, James sees brutality, from kids his own age, and he must join in if he wants to win Curtis Oxford's trust and friendship.
With murder attempts, Dave being seriously hurt and having to beat people up James's mission isn't going well,
Then when they do break out, there's just the simple matter of evading the whole Arizona police department.
Plus if they do make it to Jane Oxford, will she stick to her deal or just kill James because he knows to much? and can he find the missiles?
All this action and more in another great book by Robert Muchamore
The CHERUB series remains one of my favourite series of books,
This book is yet another great read,
I'd thoroughly recommend the CHERUB series, but I do think they nee to be read in order despite the stories being individual missions.
