BOOK REVIEW: Scorpia(Anthony Horowitz)

Book: Scorpia

Author: Anthony Horowitz

Rating: 7.2/10

Recomended age: 12-17

This is the fifth book in the action packed  Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz and i think it's one of the most interesting and surprising so far (apart from possibly the 2nd  Point Blanc).

In this book Alex is following up the lead given to him in the dying breath of Yassen Gregorovich :

" Go to Venice, find Scorpia and you will find your Destiny..."

This folows the revelation that Alex's father was actually working as a assasin and trainer for the terrorist group Scorpia( sabotage, coruption, inteligence and assasination)

A school trip is planned ot venice later in the term and what better an opportunity to try and find the truth.

3 days into the trip and still nothing, then he see's the boat, the boat with a scorpian figurehead. a small lead but worth following so Alex leaves his school trip after an intersting event involvig the assistant and 2 robbers and follows the boat to it's mooring. The private villa of  the widow. This is one of the locations used by Julia Rothman one of the senior members of Scorpia  and where they happen ot be planning their next operation "invisible sword".

Alex knows nothing of this and is practically killed after Nile a prize student in the scorpia traing sends him to his death not realsing the is the son of John Rider. Fortuneatley he escapes and comes across them again at a factory miles away, this time they welcome him with open arms fully aware of who he is and who hius father was, even if he himself is not. He gets shown footage of MI6 shooting his father during a hostage exchange, and Scorpia turn him against MI6 espcially Mrs Jones who gave the order. Then to test him they give him a assignment : kill Mrs Jones.

Perfect now he will get his revenge. but training and reality are different  and when he fails and ger captured by MI6 he finds out for himself just who he's been working for and what they plan to do to the children of London with their "Invisible Sword". Back on MI6's side he must return to scorpia and find the location of their broadcasting signals or most of the children in London and indeed himself will die.

Will he mange it?

And what will happen to him if Scorpia discover his betrayal ?
Read the book to find out.

This book is one of the best so far due to the very interest occurence of Alex changing sides and being lied to and manipulated by both. This book is very good  and you won't want to put it down.
Any teenager would be mad not to give this series a try. They will give you a thrilling set of stories that have yet to dissapoint.
