BOOK REVIEW: Raven-Sons Of Thunder (Giles Kristian) book 2

Book: Raven-Sons Of Thunder

Author: Giles Kristian

Rating: 8/10

"If you betray a Fellowship you are a dead man"

In this second book the Viking Brotherhood of Sigurd the lucky are sailing in pursuit of the traitor Ealdred, who promised them gold and riches in return for the holy book but instead took the book and is fleeing across the sea towards one of the most powerful and rich Christians in the world, The emperor of Frankia.

But using a stolen ship means the Brotherhood of Norsemen  has a good chance of catching him. And when the do the chances of him and his warriors surviving are very slim indeed.

Then with a challenge of combat between Sigurd and The best of Ealdred's warriors Raven is selected to be the enemy's shield bearer and by doing his job almost  dooms Sigurd. Leaping forward and blocking His killing stroke allows Mauger to continue. Sigurd eventually wins but he is badly injured and Raven is torn with guilt by what he has done.

When Sigurd recovers he decides to spare Ealdred's life long enough for him to trick the emperor into believing they are Christians and to hand over the silver for the book.

But this adventure holds many dangers, and not all will survive. The Gods are watching eagerly as Sigurd and his wolf pack adventure into mainland Europe and the treasure, perils, and glory that awaits there.

This is another great book by Giles Kristian. The raven series is a great series about vikings and one that is hard to stop reading. He mixes the contents of the story well and although I think I prefer the 1st in the series, It's only by the smallest margin. Anyone who enjoys a good fighting book,or historical fiction should definitely give this series and book a go.
