BOOK REVIEW: The Horse Lord (Peter Morwood)

Blurb:
"In the misty beginnings of time,when the horse Lords came to Alba,they defeated the master sorcerer Kalarr cu Ruruc and banished magic from their land, five hundred years later a Alban warrior called Aldric,heir to the castle of Dunrath returns from a drinking spree to find the castle sacked,his father and sisters murdered and the soldiers dead.
The sorcerer has returned for revenge."

As Aldric flees  he is rescued by the retired wizard Gemmel and learns he must train for 3 long years before he's able to face his enemy. Then he must  seize the dragon wand form the cavern of firedrakes defeat numerous pirates,soldiers and other foes before he Can challenge Kalarr and reclaim the citadel that is his birthright.

The wizard Gemell, a master fighter teaches Alderic all he needs to know before sending him of to get the dragon wand . using his considerable talents he bests the thief Kyrin who joins him but what are her true intentions.  he frees the dragon wand and talks to a fire drake then is attacked by pirates but defeats them with a strange tactic. A trusted member f the king has an in depth knowledge of  the empire the necromancer  Duregar who betrayed  Aldric's family and brought back Kalarr works for. Is an invasion on the horizon?

finally a force is sent to siege the castle whilst the kings gathers a main army. But they are ignorant of the sorcerers power. Suddenly Kalarr releases a most devastating spell that rips through lord santons force killing almost all.

Gemmel comes up with a plan where as Aldric can kill druegar fulfilling his oath, defeat kalarr hopefully without too many people dying.
But Will it work?


Read this books to find out. Although not the most action packed or gripping of reads it is still a fairly good story which you will hopefully enjoy no matter what age or gender you are.
